Buildcorp has commenced demolition work on the new Shell operated QGC business headquarters at 275 George Street in Brisbane, an innovative, world-class work environment. The business currently resides in the 30 level A-grade office tower.
The new 10-year lease covers 9,107 sqm across seven floors and will consolidate almost 800 staff into a highly flexible and technically enabled space. Turner & Townsend has been appointed to deliver project and cost management services for the project.
Francisco Smout, Project Director at Turner & Townsend, comments, “Global architectural and design firm Gensler, has designed a flexible, open style office to suit the evolving needs of the company. They needed a modern approach to a new office.”
“We were inspired by the client’s incredible variety of projects, the diversity of its people and the team’s desire to bring some elements of Queensland culture and lifestyle into the design,” says Josephine Than, Gensler’s lead designer on the project.
The unifying idea of ‘community’ featured prominently in the concept behind the new space. Level 30 is where the main reception and meeting spaces will be located and the design is inspired by the communities in which the company operates.
Other levels are themed, with a focus on local and regional stories. The design concept will be further realised throughout the entirety of the workplace experience, with each floor expressing a distinct part of the company’s story.
Buildcorp’s Queensland State Manager, Michael Sutcliffe said, “Buildcorp is proud to have been chosen to deliver the new workplace, currently one of the largest fit-outs in Brisbane, based on our strong safety record and experience. Workplace transformations are where our collaborative culture and industry leading systems really come to the fore.”
