Working with owners to replace combustible cladding and elevate their landmark building

The owners of Ikon Apartments moved quickly to commence works to replace combustible cladding in localised areas on the facade of their landmark building located at 81 Macleay Street in Potts Point.

Buildcorp first supported the owners to establish anticipated budgets for undertaking the cladding replacement works before we were then engaged to undertake the full scope. Buildcorp’s competitive pricing and proactive approach to material procurement led to an engagement under a Design & Construct contract.

Managing safety and delivery

Combustible cladding existed in a number of locations across the building façade. This required a bespoke access arrangement for each area to mitigate safety risk, optimise construction productivity and minimise impact on tenants and neighbours.

Works commenced during the peak of COVID-19 restrictions and Buildcorp’s proactive approach to safety and communication kept residents informed whilst minimising in person interactions with site personnel.

With site works commencing at the end of July 2020, the works met both the program and budget aims to enable the owners to renew relevant insurances with minimal impact.
