AMEX

Floor-by-floor delivery protecting 1,200 employees

Amex’s workplace transformation was an intricately staged ten-floor commercial refurbishment and fit-out project, located adjacent to Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct. The project also included a new ground floor lobby with a two storey interconnecting staircase, as well as basement End-of-Trip facilities.

To minimise any impact on Amex’s 1,200-strong workforce, the staged delivery was planned and delivered floor-by-floor in collaboration with relocation specialists. To ensure Amex staff could arrive to a seamlessly finished work zone each Monday, everything from IT testing, commissioning, relocations and handovers occurred during weekends. Transparent, considered stakeholder management and associated processes assisted in the protection of the existing base building’s critical services during business hours.

The Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) period allowed thorough planning to ensure global design and procurement standards were fully incorporated and implemented. Collaborative cost and time management gave AMEX confidence and de-risked the project from the beginning.
