Chatswood pedestrian bridge

Pedestrian footbridge spanning one of Australia's busiest highways

Constructed in 1989 as part of the Citadel Towers project, the Chatswood pedestrian bridge had suffered significant ‘wear and tear’. Willoughby Council appointed Buildcorp Asset Solutions to perform this prominent refurbishment project following a competitive tendering process. What differentiated the team from our competitors was our depth of experience in delivering complex projects in visible, live environments.

The scope of works included:

  • Replacing the roof canopy and supporting structure of the pedestrian bridge
  • Major maintenance works to the two escalators serving the pedestrian bridge

Due to its location above the Pacific Highway, the majority of the refurbishment works were performed during night shifts. This entailed Buildcorp undertaking negotiations with RMS for staged road closures throughout the project.

A detailed laser survey of the bridge was required to allow our manufacturers more than 200km away to fabricate the new steel canopy and support structure. Through effective coordination of our trades, the bridge arrived and was installed by crane on time.

Another challenging project successfully delivered by the Asset Solutions team!
