Newcastle Police Station

Buildcorp’s Asset Solutions team were engaged to manage the removal of the existing membrane at Newcastle Police Station. The membrane and planter box fill materials were classified as hazardous materials, containing asbestos. All up, 435 tonnes of asbestos impregnated material was safely removed from the site and disposed of at an approved facility.

The project team installed new torch on membrane from Parchem and undertook paving work in some areas. Permanent anchor points were also installed to allow a safe working environment during construction, and safe access for future maintenance works.

Full protection of the roof areas was of paramount importance during the demolition phase. In another success for the team, no leaks were reported in any part of the works, despite the Hunter Region experiencing some of its heaviest storms in recent years.
