Roche Pharmaceuticals

Bringing 'the outside in' for a cutting-edge workplace

Roche’s workspace fit-out and refurbishment covered the top three floors of the nine storey ’30 The Bond’ building in Barangaroo. The design included cutting edge technology, agile working spaces and landscaped external areas for a diverse work environment.

The scope included four commissioned insitu artworks across the building core, a barista style café and an interactive rooftop garden. At the heart of the workspace is an innovative ‘Rain Room’ three level external stair case that allows natural light to filter through the workspace.

Early input for innovative outcomes

Buildcorp was initially engaged in an Early Contractor Involvement arrangement to collaboratively develop and refine the design. This enabled prototypes, innovative buildability solutions and early identification of long lead items essential for the design vision.

The rooftop gardens, external ‘Rain Room’ and façade modifications to open the new café required buildability solutions for structural amendments, light weight construction, façade, waterproofing and external area realisation. Cutting edge technology was sourced including an operable 12m2 mobile video wall and a 9m long ‘floating’ reception desk with frameless glass digital screens.
