Scape Darling Square (formerly Urbanest Darling Square 2)

Buildcorp's tallest tower to date, handed over defect-free

Scape Darling Square (formerly Urbanest)’s second Darling Square tower (DS2) provides 668 beds in 520 rooms over 22 floors. This is the third Urbanest Student Accommodation facility delivered by Buildcorp’s project team, and their second project on this integrated redevelopment site.

Achieving a defect-free handover
The project team capitalised on learnings from the previous two Urbanest projects (including the neighbouring DS1 building) to fast track the delivery of DS2. The program and design were optimised utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to deliver a defect-free handover. Creative design solutions implemented on the project included:

  • Floor-by-floor cycle planning and subcontractor programs to enable work over multiple floors concurrently.
  • Prefabricated bathroom pods installed via pre-prepared ‘floor templates’.
  • Façade installation using monorails across three elevations and two launching platforms. This helps to minimise any impact on the light rail line adjoining the site.
