Tech Central Scale-Up Hub

A modern fit-out for tech scale-ups in a heritage-listed building

Property & Development NSW engaged Buildcorp to deliver a high-tech fit-out across 8000m2 for its tenant Stone & Chalk, which will run a flexible and modern workspace for scale-ups.

The hub is part of the heritage-listed 477 on Pitt, which Buildcorp is refurbishing. It sits within the broader Tech Central precinct, which will be home to start-ups, scale-ups and leading tech companies such as Atlassian.

The project was completed in a live environment including commercial tenants, retail spaces and public domains. The fit-out includes rigorous acoustic treatments and design and construction considerations for internal walls to allow future-proofing flexibility for future tenants. A switchback interconnecting staircase links levels 1 and 2, and Mexican terracotta tiles run through reception and the kitchen areas.

The program has provided a first class commercial office fit-out for eventual occupiers. Keeping sustainability was front at mind for this build, with an objective of reaching the ratings for the base building: a 5-star Green Star Design and Interiors as Built certification rating, 5-star NABERS rating and 4-star WELL rating.

Upon completion, Michael Bromley, CEO of Stone & Chalk Group, said: “I would like to personally thank the Buildcorp team for this outstanding accomplishment. Our partnership has been both a pleasure and a success from the outset and I look forward to it continuing for many years and many Hubs to come.”
