The College of Law NSW

ECI process assisted with rapid delivery of a dynamic new CBD campus

The College of Law engaged Buildcorp’s Interiors NSW team as an ECI contractor for the relocation of their new office and teaching facility at 570 George Street, Sydney, to provide value management options, buildability advice and long lead time procurement options.

Using its base building refurbishment knowledge at 570 George Street, Buildcorp was able to provide maximum value and mitigate significant risk throughout the ECI process. With the design at concept/blocking stage, there was still much to consider in the development and coordination of the design through a fast-tracked set of construction documents.

Buildcorp had already thoroughly deconstructed and then reconstructed all the services, riser and base building infrastructure and had a strong understanding of the mechanical services controls and essential services strategy and functionality. This helped Buildcorp provide an informed D&C Lump Sum offer that the Project Manager and Client could be confident in, especially in the tight design timeframes.

The scope comprised of the internal fit-out of the ground floor, mezzanine, a combination of offices and teaching facilities through levels 1 to 4, and alternations and additions to the existing Level 4 terrace. Special features included a heritage theatre space, open plan learning centre and a social space on the existing Level 4 terrace. This was completed in a very tight program over a 4-month period, in time for the College of Law staff to move into the new campus.
