Client

Queensland Academy of Sport

Brief Description

In partnership with the QAS, QSAC, QBuild and Stadiums Queensland, Buildcorp worked with key designers and suppliers of specialised materials and equipment to ensure our athletes’ home-away-from-home was enhanced and functional, and provided the optimal opportunity to train. Stage 1 Stage 1 consisted of the high performance gym, physio and courtyard refurbishment, inclusive of new, high-level glazed openings into the space, new independent mezzanine with practice long jump pit, specialist sports flooring integrated with lifting platforms and force plates, medicine ball throwing area and external landscaping areas. Despite an evolving design and scope changes along the way, this stage was handed over two weeks before the scheduled completion date, allowing our Tokyo Olympians to utilise the facility before heading off to compete. Stage 2 Following the successful delivery of Stage 1, Buildcorp worked closely with the design team and key stakeholders to design and construct the Stage 2 foyer and office refurbishment, and performance health and science laboratories, including an altitude room to mimic low oxygen conditions, haematology lab and indoor competition running track with inset force plates isolated from the slab to ensure accurate performance data capture for our athletes.
