In early 2013, the Sydney Fish Market management approached Buildcorp to develop a remediation strategy for the degraded floor of the Auction House.

Over the years of heavy use, the floor had deteriorated into a poor state of repair, suffering from delaminated topping, spalling, impact damage, insufficient falls and inadequate / damaged drainage. It was also imperative to get to site and execute the works quickly.

Buildcorp were therefore engaged under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract to help develop this repair strategy. We worked with the client and consultants to develop a risk mitigated, economical solution delivered to the quality which was required whilst the
auction house was still in operation.

This ECI process also allowed Buildcorp to work with the floor managers of the auction house to develop a staging plan, programme and work schedule which best suited their timeframes and auction requirements so that the impact of the works on daily operations was minimised.

Under a Construction Management arrangement, we then delivered this project using hydro demolition robots, fibreglass reinforcing bar for new the slabs and a Sikafloor 20N, 21N and 30N PurCem system for the floor topping all delivered in 7 stages with very minimal impact on the operations to the Auction House.
