Buildcorp are thrilled to have been part of Walker Corporation’s exciting revitalisation project to restore a Melbourne icon, the historic Good Shed as part of the Collins Square transformation.
Originally constructed in 1889 and as the single longest building in Australia, the Good Shed structures are classified by the National Trust and included on the Victorian Heritage Register.
The Buildcorp Victoria team was engaged to deliver the end of trip and amenities upgrade within the Lantern Building located within Collins Square. An architecturally significant heritage asset, the Lantern Building is a nine-storey office tower that connects the historic Goods Shed to Collins Street.
Located within a live operational building, the project required meticulous coordination to maintain safety and minimise disruption to surrounding tenancies. Buildcorp’s delivery strategy focused on staged works, proactive planning, immediate mobilisation of key trades, and early procurement to ensure a smooth, high-quality outcome aligned with the broader Collins Square design standards.
A revitalisation designed for the evolving expectations of modern tenants, enhancing user experience through elevated amenity, seamless functionality, and future-ready infrastructure, our scope of works included the new end of trip facilities, new amenities, upgrades to existing DDA amenities, secure bicycle storage and corridor space.
This adaptive re-use project is a transformative redevelopment of a 1976-era office tower in Brisbane's CBD, which will make innovative use of mass timber to set a new benchmark for sustainable and adaptive commercial development.
