Remediation works to waterproofing membrane and planter boxes were carried out by Buildcorp on the fully occupied Commercial Tower at 480 Queen Street, Brisbane.
Following the completion of an earlier project in the building, Buildcorp were engaged under an ECI arrangement to investigate remediation works for water ingress issues from unknown origins. Deconstructed works were undertaken to the Level 4 open parklands of 480 Queen Street to ascertain the source of water ingress.
Following investigations, it was discovered that the waterproofing membrane to the entire Level 4 Parklands template was failing due to incorrect installation and non-compliant application. Buildcorp worked with the Waterproofing Engineer to develop a detailed design to remediate the failed waterproofing membrane identified and was centered around providing the best performing membrane for our client.
The solution focused on the product’s 20-year lifecycle, durability, and adaptability for routine maintenance and alteration, while minimising impact on existing tenants.
In addition, it was essential to prioritise tenant and public safety as well as their overall experience. To achieve this, we placed a significant emphasis on maintaining safe access throughout the area, maintaining an organised site, tidy overhead gantries, hoardings, and scaffolding. These measures helped to create a safe and pleasant environment for everyone involved.
