Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park

Delivering complex remediation works in a live environment

The delivery of complex cladding replacement works at the Entertainment Quarter drew on our expertise across remedial works, stakeholder coordination and live environment management. The team developed a methodology and program that minimised impact on the busy precinct which included: cinemas, restaurants, entertainment venues and Australia’s leading film school.

The works focused around two buildings requiring cladding replacement, namely the Hoyts Cinema building and the building housing the Australia Film Television and Radio School. On the cinema building, the location of the cladding spanned a full height feature blade requiring careful consideration to safely access its lightweight steel roof to facilitate the works. The works on the AFTRS building required critical coordination to limit the impact on the school’s events, lectures and exams.

Planning for success

To ensure successful delivery, Buildcorp firstly defined the client and tenant requirements to establish communication plans that enabled all stakeholder requirements to be incorporated into the project planning. This resulted in daily communications with all stakeholders to ensure disruption was mitigated whilst the construction delivery programme was optimised.

The project was successfully delivered to the satisfaction of all stakeholders and also included responsive solutions to the operational challenges posed by the pandemic.
