Entertainment Quarter

With a busy public precinct housing cinemas, restaurants and entertainment venues, coupled with Australia’s leading film school, delivery of cladding replacement works at the Entertainment Quarter represented the perfect blend of Buildcorp’s expertise with cladding remediation works and extensive experience operating in complex live environments.

The works focused around two buildings requiring cladding replacement, namely the Hoyts Cinema building and the building housing the Australia Film Television and Radio School. Whilst the cinema scope was relatively small in size, the location of the cladding on a full height feature blade, required careful consideration of access across a lightweight steel roof to facilitate the works. The works on the AFTRS building were simpler with regards access requirements, however coordination around school events, lectures and exams was critical to enable the successful delivery of the works whilst minimising impact on tenants.

Buildcorp’s established approach of defining client and tenant requirements and agreeing communication plans as the first piece of project planning enabled all stakeholder requirements to be incorporated into the project planning. This resulted in daily communications wih all stakeholders to ensure disruption was mitigated whilst minimising impacts to the works delivery programme.

The project was successfully delivered to the satisfaction of all stakeholders, in particular noting the challenges of operating under the restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic at the time of the works.
