Managing the construction and fit-out of the facility, Buildcorp gave careful consideration to the staging of the program to ensure any impact on The Star’s hotel operations was kept to a minimum, particularly during the evenings.

A dominating component of the construction was the structural steel. Tying in to the existing structure of the adjoining casino, it was imperative that site measurements and coordination were exact. With a compressed programme, offsite manufacture was crucial in ensuring that the structure progressed speedily so that slabs and façade walls could be built to form the new restaurant.

At approximately $1.2 million trade cost, the state-of-the-art display kitchen brought together hundreds of pieces of equipment with multiple long lead times /custom items unique to the restaurant and a first for the Casino. With minimal available space, upfront coordination with services trades was imperative. Templating at slab level allowed for structured co-ordination of coring and for associated trades and the client to visualise the final product.
