UNSW Kensington Campus
Buildcorp’s extensive live environment remedial experience, coupled with a long track record of campus projects, was crucial in the successful award and delivery of complex façade replacement works at the H6 Tyree Building on the UNSW Campus in Kensington.
With the Tyree building forming a critical landmark both on Anzac Parade and University Mall, management of the live environment formed a crucial part of the project planning to deliver complex façade replacement works.
Working in partnership with the University, building representatives and transport authorities, Buildcorp established and implemented a methodology that provided appropriate safe access for site personnel whilst maintaining flexibility for students, the public and 3rd party suppliers to continue operating in and around the building. This was achieved the installation of a large bird cage scaffold solution to access the majority of the high level façade replacement works, with Elevated Work Platforms and mobile cranes, operating with exclusion zones and spotters, to undertake the detailed replacement of cladding fixed to the sun shades.
Collaborating with the University and subcontractors, Buildcorp identified design and installation solutions at an early stage in the project planning to enable the retention of significant areas of existing terracotta tiling on the sun shades whilst still allowing full removal of the identified cladding, generating significant savings for the University.
This collaborative approach and live environment focus has resulted in the replacement of over 4500m² of cladding, utilising over 23,000 delivery hours with a LTIFR of 0.
