13 November 2018: Buildcorp’s Safety Team has been recognised once again with a prestigious industry award, taking out the icare ‘Care and Service Excellence (CASE)’ Award for Excellence in Injury Prevention.
Our quarterly icare award win back in September put Buildcorp in the running for this next level ‘CASE’ award recognition. The team was honoured to take home the 2018 trophy as a joint winner with another quarterly award winner, Komatsu.
Now in their fourth year, the CASE Awards reward outstanding service delivery in the NSW workers compensation industry. Our award further recognises Buildcorp’s industry leading safety systems, in particular our ‘Green hard hats for new workers’ initiative which provides visibility, support and a focused induction for inexperienced workers.
Buildcorp Health & Safety Manager David O’Toole said:
“It was a massive team effort in 2018 from over 300 ‘Buildcorpers’ and thousands of our subcontractor workers to help ensure all our new workers go home safe every day.
“We are not in this to win awards, but this industry recognition from is a positive sign that Buildcorp are going in the right direction with improving health and safety.
“However, we’re not resting on our laurels. This success in protecting our new workers from injury is only the beginning, and our next step is to promote our ‘green hard hat’ initiative with the wider industry with help from icare, SafeWork NSW and the Master Builders Association. If we succeed, green hard hats on new workers will become the norm across Australia. This is an excellent example of a staff-suggested proactive safety initiative evolving with the potential to expand into an industry-wide safety benefit.”
