Block’s new Sydney workplace has been designed to bring together numerous teams from the company’s ecosystem under the one roof.
Block’s new office at the Brewery Yard represents a major milestone for local teams and reinforces the company’s commitment to the Australian technology market. Situated at the heart of Tech Central, Sydney’s dedicated innovation and technology precinct, this project marks Buildcorp’s third delivery in the area, following the Tech Central Scale-Up Hub fit-out and the refurbishment of 477 on Pitt last year.
The six-floor commercial asset, recently redeveloped, was primed for transformation into flexible workspaces, complemented by ground floor retail and hospitality. The office design focuses on creating a versatile and welcoming environment, featuring a blend of traditional ergonomic desks and informal work areas tailored to diverse work styles. The space includes open-plan atelier areas, a large event space on the entry level, training rooms, a games room, a parents’ room, and a Reflection and Meditation Room to support well-being.
The office also emphasises sustainability, utilising Central Park’s low-carbon natural gas power plant for energy, incorporating locally sourced furnishings, and reusing materials from other offices to minimise waste. Full-service end-of-trip facilities encourage eco-friendly commuting, further highlighting the commitment to a sustainable workplace.
Buildcorp takes pride in delivering Block’s second flagship office in Australia, completed defect-free.
The adaptive reuse of three levels of the heritage-listed Brewery Yard in Sydney's Chippendal into a premier office across 3,500m2 of net lettable area (NLA) for financial services giant, Block. The comprehensive ECI and lump sum fit-out consolidates Block's subsidary companies - Afterpay, Square, Cash App, TBD and TIDAL.
