St George Private Hospital Specialist Centre

Buildcorp worked collaboratively with Ramsay Health Care and Team 2 Architects to complete the planning, design, and construction of the new purpose-built specialist centre and pedestrian bridge.

With multiple shared boundary walls and in close proximity to the main St George Private Hospital building, Buildcorp was cognisant of the risks associated with working in such a sensitive live environment. To address this, the team implemented the following site management and materials handling strategies:

• Campus approach to site establishment and logistics across three site phases of works
• Installation of the overhead gantry, allowing materials to be safely lifted via crane over adjoining properties
• Dual construction zones to mitigate the impact of clear ways

The new six storey building features five levels cold shell consulting suites, an imaging facility, new chamber substation, utilities room, waste room, pump room, and top floor plant room facilities. The team also completed an integrated fit-out of level two including consulting suites, break out spaces and waiting areas, and a two storey extension to the existing multi-storey carpark building.

In addition, Buildcorp exercised extreme care when delivering the pedestrian link bridge between the Specialist Centre and the main hospital building to ensure operational continuity of the hospital at all times, which was coordinated over one weekend. These works were a culmination of close to six months of design and planning.
