Buildcorp is proud to announce a three-year extension of our partnership with the Queensland Rugby Union, continuing our support of the Queensland Reds and the Buildcorp Reds Academy through to 2029.
Established in 2022, the partnership marked Buildcorp’s first investment in a rugby pathways program and our first partnership with a State Union. Its major focus remains the Buildcorp Reds Academy, which creates opportunities for more than 70 players aged 16 to 20 and is the leading pathway for talent progressing to the Queensland Reds’ Super Rugby Pacific squad.
Recent Academy graduates to progress to the Reds include Treyvon Pritchard, Tom Robinson and Finn Mackay, demonstrating the role the program continues to play in developing Queensland’s emerging rugby talent.
The partnership also has a strong connection to Buildcorp’s work at Ballymore. Academy players train and develop at the BMS National Rugby Training Centre, which Buildcorp constructed and completed in 2023 as part of the redevelopment of the iconic home of Queensland rugby.
Buildcorp Managing Director and Co-Founder Tony Sukkar AM said the partnership reflects a strong alignment between the two organisations.
“Each season, we see players stepping up to the Reds after foundations have been established in the Buildcorp Reds Academy. It’s similar to how we operate with training, continual learning and establishing company values so it’s not a foreign thing when people step up a level.”
“It’s very satisfying to be involved in the QRU’s plans for long-term success. Some faces may change and the way a new coach plays the game but the strong culture at the Reds does not. That alignment with our own values at Buildcorp is very reassuring.”
The renewed partnership forms part of Buildcorp’s commitment to Australian rugby spanning more than 35 years.
