5 NOVEMBER 2016: Three Buildcorp teams have been proudly awarded by the NSW Master Builders Association (MBA) for their outstanding efforts in challenging live environment projects (construction within occupied buildings) and innovative approach to safety management.
Buildcorp’s 2016 NSW MBA winners are:
1. Winner: Site Safety – Innovative Safety System award.
Buildcorp’s new safety system that uses innovation, technology and continual learning to make our sites safer was praised by judges as an “electronic approach to manage health and safety high-risk construction work, making it as simple and easy as possible for site teams to understand, implement and monitor.” This is Buildcorp’s first Group-wide MBA award and is also largely thanks to the project teams that have embraced the new system.
2. Winner: Refurbishment/Renovation/Extension$20,000,000 -$50,000,000.
The project team behind the WELL-inspired refurbishment of Macquarie Group’s eight level office fit-out at 1 Martin Place was commended for “works that were well executed and completed to a high standard”. They were also recognised for designing methodologies that addressed multiple challenges including the demolition of floor slabs to create a seven level stair void and minimising the impact of construction on the occupied building and adjoining Westin Hotel.
3. Winner: Club/Entertainment – Refurbishment $10,000,001 and over.
Sovereign Rivers High Rollers facility for The Star Entertainment Group (at The Star) was recognised by the judges for “meticulous detail, the integration of all services and unprecedented levels of quality”. The team that delivered this complex project ensured “the existing casino operations could continue unimpeded during construction”.
Buildcorp’s safety and risk management systems play a big part in our teams’ ability to deliver complex construction projects in live environments. Our approach is to create a program that allows clients to continue their ‘business as usual’ even during large scale refurbishments and fit-outs. To do this, we work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to create construction methodologies that consider: ongoing safe access to the building, the continuation of key services and managing noise and vibration from the works.
