Leveraging key lessons learnt from the recently completed Meriden Centre of Music and Drama, Buildcorp and Meriden School continue their partnership with the development of the Meriden Design and Creative Arts Building, which is planned to be ready for occupation by Term 3, 2025.
Currently under construction, the new Meriden Design and Creative Arts Building will create an inspiring educational environment where students can develop their creative thinking abilities with state-of-the-art learning facilities.
Following the completion of the Meriden Centre of Music and Drama project, Buildcorp held workshops with Meriden School to identify key insights that could be applied to the Design and Creative Arts Building as part of the early works package.
Through the development of a successful working relationship, Buildcorp has become intimately familiar with the Meriden School’s operations and processes to best support the students. As such, the current methodology is reflective of this and aims to minimise all construction related traffic during the peak drop off and pick up times and adheres to the ‘no noise’ periods as requested. All critical path activities requiring access or interface within the campus have also been programmed to occur during school holiday periods.
In addition, Buildcorp has fostered a professional working relationship with Strathfield Council to promote efficiency and minimise disruption to the immediate community. Due to an extremely constrained site, Buildcorp worked with Strathfield Council to overcome storage and logistical constraints whilst maintaining safe paths of travel for students, teachers, and the community.
Through application of these insights and maintaining open channels of communication, Buildcorp aims to deliver the same high quality outcome the recently completed Meriden Centre of Music and Drama achieved.
Once finalised, the Meriden Design and Creative Arts Building will offer bespoke educational spaces, including art studios and workshops, for senior students studying Visual Arts, Design and Technology, Engineering, and Hospitality over five storeys. Connecting these indoor learning facilities with the outdoor landscape, the development will further expand the learning space and enhance student health and wellbeing by inviting more natural light into the building.
