St Andrew's College Thyne Reid Link Development

Located within the University of Sydney campus and connecting the Thyne and Reid buildings with another seven-storey student accommodation wing, the Thyne Reid Link Development presented St Andrew’s College with the opportunity to provide additional world-class facilities to senior undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Understanding the College’s need to maintain the amenity of current student residents and minimise the impact on campus operations, Buildcorp delivered the following outcomes:

• A design and construction methodology that maintained bed numbers and minimised impact on campus operations
• A room occupancy plan to ensure the safety of all current and future residents
• Staged handover for the accommodation to maximise revenue for the College
• Early handover six weeks before scheduled Practical Completion

In response to the ever-growing demand for student accommodation in the area, the Thyne Reid Link Development provides 88 new bedrooms, recreational facilities including a gymnasium, and common areas in the new Link Building. Further, the refurbishment of the Reid Building included all rooms and corridors as well as an additional floor, providing 14 new rooms.

To support this growth, Buildcorp also delivered a new landscape courtyard (used to mask an inground OSD tank) and a new façade along Carillion Avenue, seamlessly blending the old with the new.
