QIMR Berghofer ACP Cladding Replacement

Buildcorp was engaged to undertake the recladding of selected combustible ACP on various parts of the Bancroft, Central and CBRBC Buildings at the QIMR site at Herston, including link bridges, courtyard and external facades.

Works included cladding design and construction that considered the existing structure – ensuring it could adequately support the proposed new loads – and that the structural design complied with the Building Code of Australia prior to the initiation of any building works. The cladding elevations identified for replacement included:

• Plant Room Walls
• Porte cochere and Level 6 balcony external ceilings
• Level 6 courtyard awning ceiling and bulkhead
• Various wall and ceiling cladding
• Alleyway wall

In this highly sensitive live environment, constant stakeholder engagement as well as noise and vibration monitoring ensured the works did not interfere with detailed experiments, exacting research or patients’ treatment procedures.
