Scape Darling Square

Handed over defect-free, Scape Darling House was the third Urbanest student accommodation facility delivered by Buildcorp’s project team, and their second project on this integrated redevelopment site.

Buildcorp’s project team capitalised on learnings from the previous two Urbanest projects (including the neighbouring Darling House building) to fast track the delivery of Darling Square. The program and design were optimised utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to deliver a defect-free handover. Creative design solutions implemented on the project included:

• Floor-by-floor cycle planning and subcontractor programs to enable work over multiple floors concurrently
• Prefabricated bathroom pods installed via pre-prepared ‘floor templates’
• Façade installation using monorails across three elevations and two launching platforms which helped to minimise any impact on the light rail line adjoining the site
• The space on site was limited and therefore the team spent considerable time conducting detailed investigations and planning to ensure that the site establishment would be sufficient for the delivery of the towers
• Given the CBD location and constrained site, there was limited space for materials storage, so team came up with a two storey site accommodation solution with additional materials storage above the B class hoarding
