Buildcorp set to deliver International Centre of Training Excellence for Blacktown City Council

Buildcorp is starting on site this month to deliver a landmark sporting facility for Blacktown City Council that will serve as a high performance sports medicine, education and accelerated recovery centre for athletes and the wider community.

The $100m International Centre of Training Excellence (ICTE) at Blacktown Sportspark features a striking, architecturally complex façade and a range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, aquatics pools, sports medicine tenancies, dining and accommodation facilities.

To ‘cement’ the new partnership, the film below includes an address from Mayor of Blacktown City Tony Bleasdale OAM and Buildcorp Managing Director Tony Sukkar AM.

During the tender process, the Buildcorp team innovated to develop solutions to find the best way to build the Centre’s beautiful and complex design. Working with the design team including architects ARM and Co-Op, the team resolved design challenges and identified ways to add value to the Centre’s operations.

Blacktown Council’s mission for the ICTE is to inspire everyone to ‘move more’. The environment, facilities and services it offers will help to address health inequality and improve sporting performance and recovery for individuals and groups of all ages.
In addition to this, Buildcorp is also targeting a high percentage of local trade and supplier involvement on the project, as well as a 5% target for Indigenous participation and procurement.

Buildcorp Managing Director Tony Sukkar AM said:
“We are incredibly proud to be chosen Blacktown City Council’s partner to deliver both a world-leading facility for athletes and an inclusive place to support lifelong health in the community.

“Our team is wholeheartedly aligned with Council’s mission and has longstanding experience in delivering high performing community facilities. During our 31 year history, Buildcorp has delivered more than 70 community infrastructure projects for recreation, sport and health.

“We look forward to working with our partners Blacktown City Council, Savills and many more to bring the vision to life.”
