On Wednesday 25 March the Buildcorp Foundation and Lifeline Australia Help @ Hand Giving Day raised $606,849, with $275,000 of that total donated by the Buildcorp Foundation as part of our dollar-matching commitment.
This is the third year in a row that the Buildcorp Foundation has been principal partner for the 24-hour public fundraising campaign, which raises funds for Lifeline Australia’s critical digital support services.
On the day, more than 20 Buildcorp and Euroline sites across the East Coast put their ‘tools down’ for BBQs to raise awareness, connect as a team and help raise money for the Buildcorp Foundation to support the dollar-matching commitment to Lifeline. Our teams demonstrated incredible effort and creativity in bringing the day to life, from lively onsite competitions, to running BBQs for all building tenants, to shaving heads for donations! Our teams and their network of partners raised an incredible $211,058 through their initiatives alone.
The important national fundraising event is part of the Buildcorp Foundation’s mission to support good mental health and help put an end to suicide, which disproportionately impacts the construction industry. Tragically, every day 9 Australians die by suicide and construction workers are at particularly high risk; every second day a construction worker dies by suicide, and men in construction are twice as likely to take their life compared to other industries.
The Foundation is proud to be Lifeline Australia’s longest serving national partner, and to now have donated over $2.7 million to Lifeline Australia over the past 11 years.
Lifeline Australia continues to see increasing demand for its services year on year, especially its digital tools including web chat, SMS and the online Support Toolkit. It receives 1.5 million contacts every year across its channels. The funds raised from Giving Day will help Lifeline continue to support Australians in accessing help in a way that works for them.
Thank you to the Buildcorp and Euroline community including all teams, partners, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consultants for their support of the day and helping to make a positive impact together.
