Working closely with Cricket NSW, Buildcorp successfully delivered Sydney Thunder’s state-of-the-art new home as well as the Western Hub for the NSW Blues and Breakers.
Located in Sydney Olympic Park, Cricket Central was delivered whilst weather and global supply chain challenges were seamlessly managed and risk mitigated by Buildcorp. The new community and sports facility is fronted to the north by Parramatta River, to the west by Silverwater Road, to the South by Industrial lands and to the east by the Silverwater Correctional Facility.
The new facility houses training and playing facilities including:
Home to six professional teams, the NSW Breakers and Blues, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers BBL and WBBL teams provides an opportunity for the community to come and see what a high-performance facility looks like and how it operates.
Throughout the tight construction programme of just under twelve months, Buildcorp proactively managed environmental and contamination challenges. Originally home to gasworks in the 1950’s, the site required professional and strict Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) policies and procedures compliance.
The new building features a two storey cricket centre including an internal atrium, gymnasium, community facilities, sports science and sports medicine facilities and sport administration offices as well as an international Cricket Council compliant sized cricket oval, a smaller sized community cricket oval and outdoor practice nets.
