Construction of a new 15-storey residential building including basement and communal rooftop level, in partnership with a leading provider of social housing.
A contemporary inner-urban community featuring subtropical design, focusing on liveability, walkability and accessibility, the Carl Street project will provide affordable housing for single person households including key workers, people on the social housing register, low to medium income earners and single parent families. The project is surrounded by existing residential.
The development will deliver 81 new homes including 41 social and 40 affordable homes, and will assist in the delivery of safe, long-term, quality housing for people eligible for social housing including people at risk of homelessness.
The building contains a mix of studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes, each with its own private balcony. Included are 38 car parks, with 28 resident car parks, 8 visitor car parks and 2 carshare spaces.
The client’s vision is to create a dynamic, well-located and stable community of residents as part of the lively Woolloongabba precinct. Sustainability features are at the forefront of the building design, with the property targeting a 7+star NatHERS rating, benefiting from rainwater collection and storage for irrigation of landscaping, a solar array to power the communal spaces and lifts, and naturally cross ventilated apartments and communal spaces in lieu of air conditioning.
