McCall Community Hub

Currently under construction, the new Community Hub will offer a range of high quality and personalised community services and facilities, providing valuable support for people with a range of disabilities for generations to come.

The upgraded facilities will assist the McCall Foundation in its vision to promote inclusivity and accessibility within the community. This will include delivery of:

• A two-storey community building featuring a disability support centre, indoor swimming pool and the McCall Foundation head office
• Heritage restoration and adaptive re-use of the century-old Box Hill House and Nelson House

Throughout the tender phase, Buildcorp worked collaboratively with the McCall Foundation, Mostyn Copper, project consultants, Heritage NSW, the adjoining developer, and other key stakeholders to develop an intimate understanding of the aspirations and challenges associated with the delivery of the project.

As such, key challenges including groundworks (remediation and uncontrolled fill), carefully considered heritage restoration activities, design finalisation, and operation in proximity to surrounding neighbours and adjacent construction works were thoroughly reviewed and addressed by Buildcorp’s team in the development of a comprehensive site establishment and construction methodology.

Considerate sequencing of the pool works alongside concurrent construction activities was key in the development of an efficient programme, ensuring project momentum can be maintained throughout the works.
