Sofitel Sydney Wentworth

With its distinctive horse shoe design and curved copper façade, the hotel held major social and architectural significance in Sydney – having hosted Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Princess Diana, the Pope and Neil Armstrong in its day. The repositioning of the heritage-listed building aimed to reinstate the asset as the premier lifestyle business hotel within Sydney CBD.

Following an extensive Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process, and a completed early works package, Buildcorp was engaged to carry out the upgrades of the hotel guest rooms and suites. In addition, works included the refurbishment of existing public corridors and lift lobbies on each of the 11 floors.
The staged refurbishment of the existing 436 rooms required delicate coordination whilst the hotel continued to operate.

The scope comprised the following:

• Stripped out of existing lift lobbies, corridors and existing rooms
• Supplied and installed new lighting and electrical fittings and fixtures
• New room entry treatments
• Replaced existing carpet
• Made good and painted skirting, doors, access panels and ceiling
• Provisioned for new signage and wayfinding
• Supplied and installed new wardrobes, bedheads, televisions and additional loose furniture
