Villanova College Learning Centre

Numerous aspects of working within a live school environment became Buildcorp’s challenges to solve. These risks included materials deliveries, maintaining student access and egress and the minimisation of noise, dust and vibration – particularly during exam periods. 

In adopting an agile, transparent and proactive communications approach with all stakeholders – the project was an overall great success in handing over a revitalised learning centre with state-of-the-art teaching facilities for the Villanova student body. 

Overall, the project scope included the following: 

• Construction of a new concrete and steel structure consisting of four levels over a tiered site 

• Bulk and detailed excavation work and installation of in-ground services and piled foundations 

• Internal fit-out, including 12 flexible/open-plan JLAs (Junior Learning Areas), six SLAs (Senior Learning Areas), an auditorium, administration space, and an open foyer 

• New bridge links between buildings and the existing Veratis Building on levels 1, 2, and 3 

• Modifications to the existing Veratis Building due to the new bridge links (façade/balustrade removal) 

• New colonnade work on both the construction site and existing school areas 

• Landscaping to match the existing school finishes
